Cobb County Public Safety Village Education Building
YLH was the Design/Builder for this one-of-a-kind project in Marietta, Georgia. This 30,000 square foot facility houses classrooms, offices, a theater, Kids Safe Garage and a special interactive fire safety house. The building’s primary function is to educate school children about fire safety, crime prevention and other issues related to public safety. The building also acts as host to various town hall meetings, County functions and adult education classes.
The building’s exterior is designed to mimic historic Cobb County buildings. Once inside, visitors find themselves standing on a cobblestone street under a massive skylight that covers the entire main corridor. The corridor walls are designed to look like a row of shops on an old town street leading to the Strand Theater. YLH is proud to have teamed with Pieper, O’Brien, Herr Architects on this project. The Design/Build Institute of America awarded YLH with the Best Project Award for Public Sector.
